At rest
Originals are encrypted with AES-256-GCM
Every original is encrypted before it is written to storage. Thumbnails are served through short-lived signed links. To be precise: the key is held by the service, so this protects stored data, not against the service itself — we say so plainly in the security docs.
Faces stay in-house
Recognition runs on our own service and embeddings are per user. Nothing goes to an outside provider.

Questions, answered
Do you train AI on my photos?
No. Face recognition runs on PhotoMemory's own service and photos are never used to train models or shared with third parties.
Is it end-to-end encrypted?
Originals are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and a key held by the service. It is not zero-knowledge: the service decrypts originals to serve them to you.
Which files can I upload?
JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, ten RAW formats and common video formats, up to 50 MB per file.
Can I get my photos out?
Yes. Download any original, or use the desktop client in thick mode to mirror the library to a folder.
How do I change plan or pay?
At auth.thundera.eu/billing. Your storage limit updates within about 30 seconds.
What happens to deleted photos?
They stay in the Trash for 30 days, then are permanently removed.
